“Education, Language and Culture promote multi-culturism ,Peace and Harmony” said Mr Martin Kenneddy, the Director of the International School while speaking as the Chief Guest in the First Annual Prize Giving of the Thamil Classes organized by the Seychelles Tamil Cultural Development Centre ( STCDC ) in the International school Mont Fleuri on Sunday the 23rd of October. This marked the end of the first year when almost 50 children divided into four groups sat for their annual examination in Tamil and came out successfully winning number of awards for their competence in the learning of Tamil. Mr G .Sivashanmugampillay, the Chairman of the STCDC welcomed the chief guest and thanked him for allowing the use of their classrooms for achieving such success in the learning of Tamil by these children.



“ Education for all is our policy and we are keen to promote the study of as many languages as possible because proficiency in languages promotes better understanding and harmony in the world. Seychelles being a multi-cultural and multi-lingual country the STCDC should be congratulated for taking a bold step in the right direction and with the help of voluntary teachers, it is gratifying to note that many children have won trophies and prizes for their high attainments.”



Mr V.Sivasupramaniam, the co-ordinator of programmes while explaining the strengths and weaknesses of the children’s attainments emphasized the importance of parental care, involvement and interests to enhance learning habits and the necessity to have an educational environment and a school situation to further promote language learning that is being done according to modern language learning techniques that are provided by Mr Pollachi Nasan of Tamil Nadu and Mr Thambi Buvanendran of Germany to whom we are very thankful.
